About us

Chris and Laura established Cortijo el Moro Art Residency in 2025.

As from the summer of 2026, Chris will be managing the residency himself, however, for the time being, Laura will still be on hand for anything behind the scenes!

Laura, artist, mentor and business owner. Laura's background is rich and diverse, running a ceramics studio in the UK, where she made functional ware and taught classes. Prior to this she established an award-winning coffee shop, gallery and art studios in Kent, England. Arriving in Spain, Chris taught himself how to restore an old cortijo, and he now has a bank of skills to call upon, from, building and plastering, to welding, woodworking, plumbing and pretty much anything else practical! He’s your man for technical support and will, undoubtedly, have that perfect piece of metal you’re looking for, that essential tool you couldn’t bring with you, or the knowledge on how to fix a problem! On the rare occasion that he is unable to help you himself, he will know just the person in the village who can!

Please do get in touch if either Chris, or Laura, can help you with anything further.
